Altcoin
Elke cryptocurrency die geen Bitcoin is. Ethereum, Solana en Dogecoin zijn allemaal altcoins.Any cryptocurrency that is not Bitcoin. Ethereum, Solana and Dogecoin are all altcoins.
ATH (All-Time High)
De hoogste koers die een coin ooit heeft bereikt.The highest price a coin has ever reached.
B
Bear market
Een langdurige periode waarin koersen dalen, meestal meer dan 20% van de piek. Het tegenovergestelde van een bull market.A prolonged period of falling prices, usually more than 20% from the peak. The opposite of a bull market.
Bitcoin (BTC)
De eerste en bekendste cryptocurrency, gelanceerd in 2009 door het pseudoniem Satoshi Nakamoto.The first and most well-known cryptocurrency, launched in 2009 under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.
Blockchain
Een digitaal register van transacties dat verspreid is over duizenden computers. Geen centrale partij beheert het — iedereen kan het controleren.A digital ledger of transactions distributed across thousands of computers. No central party controls it — anyone can verify it.
Bull market
Een periode van stijgende koersen en positief sentiment. Het tegenovergestelde van een bear market.A period of rising prices and positive sentiment. The opposite of a bear market.

Cold wallet
Een wallet die niet verbonden is met het internet. Een hardware wallet is een voorbeeld. Veiliger dan een hot wallet.A wallet that is not connected to the internet. A hardware wallet is an example. More secure than a hot wallet.
Custodial wallet
Een wallet waarbij een derde partij (zoals een exchange) de privésleutels beheert namens jou.A wallet where a third party (such as an exchange) manages the private keys on your behalf.

DeFi (Decentralized Finance)
Financiële diensten — zoals lenen, sparen en handelen — zonder banken of tussenpersonen, draaiend op smart contracts.Financial services — such as lending, saving and trading — without banks or intermediaries, running on smart contracts.
DYOR (Do Your Own Research)
Doe je eigen onderzoek voordat je belegt. Vertrouw niet blind op tips van anderen.Do your own research before investing. Do not blindly trust tips from others.

Exchange
Een platform waar je crypto kunt kopen, verkopen en ruilen. Bitvavo, Coinbase en Kraken zijn populaire exchanges.A platform where you can buy, sell and trade crypto. Bitvavo, Coinbase and Kraken are popular exchanges.

FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)
De angst om een kans te missen. Leidt er vaak toe dat mensen impulsief op de top kopen.The fear of missing out on an opportunity. Often leads people to buy impulsively at the peak.
FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt)
Negatieve informatie — soms bewust verspreid — om mensen te ontmoedigen crypto te kopen of te houden.Negative information — sometimes deliberately spread — to discourage people from buying or holding crypto.

Gas fee
De vergoeding die je betaalt voor een transactie op de Ethereum-blockchain. Varieert afhankelijk van drukte op het netwerk.The fee you pay for a transaction on the Ethereum blockchain. Varies depending on network congestion.

Halving
Elke vier jaar worden de Bitcoin-beloningen voor miners gehalveerd. Dit beperkt het aanbod en heeft historisch gezien invloed op de koers.Every four years the Bitcoin rewards for miners are halved. This limits supply and has historically influenced the price.
Hardware wallet

HODL

Hot wallet

KYC (Know Your Customer)
De verificatieprocedure waarbij exchanges jouw identiteit controleren, vereist door wet- en regelgeving.The verification procedure by which exchanges check your identity, required by law and regulation.

Liquiditeit
De mate waarin een crypto snel verkocht kan worden zonder de koers sterk te beïnvloeden. Bitcoin heeft hoge liquiditeit; kleine altcoins veel minder.The degree to which a crypto can be sold quickly without significantly affecting the price. Bitcoin has high liquidity; small altcoins much less so.

Mempool

Mining

P2P (Peer-to-Peer)
Directe transactie tussen twee personen, zonder tussenpersoon.A direct transaction between two people, without an intermediary.
Privésleutel
Een geheime code die bewijst dat jij de eigenaar bent van crypto. Nooit delen. Verlies = verlies van crypto.A secret code that proves you are the owner of crypto. Never share it. Loss = loss of crypto.
Proof of Stake (PoS)
Een consensusmechanisme waarbij validators crypto vastzetten als onderpand om transacties te verifiëren. Minder energieverbruik dan Proof of Work.A consensus mechanism whereby validators lock up crypto as collateral to verify transactions. Less energy-intensive than Proof of Work.
Proof of Work (PoW)
Het consensusmechanisme van Bitcoin. Computers concurreren om wiskundige puzzels op te lossen. Veilig maar energieverslindend.The consensus mechanism of Bitcoin. Computers compete to solve mathematical puzzles. Secure but energy-intensive.
Publiek adres
Het adres dat je deelt om crypto te ontvangen. Vergelijkbaar met een IBAN-rekeningnummer.The address you share to receive crypto. Similar to an IBAN bank account number.
Pump & dump
Een opzettelijke koersmanipulatie: oplichters kopen een goedkope coin op, blazen hype op via sociale media, en verkopen zodra de koers gestegen is. Anderen blijven met verlies achter.A deliberate price manipulation: scammers buy up a cheap coin, inflate hype via social media, and sell once the price has risen. Others are left with losses.

Rug pull
Een scam waarbij ontwikkelaars van een nieuw project plotseling alle fondsen onttrekken en verdwijnen.A scam where developers of a new project suddenly withdraw all funds and disappear.

Satoshi

Seed phrase

Smart contract

Stablecoin
Een cryptocurrency waarvan de waarde gekoppeld is aan een stabiel actief, zoals de dollar (USDT, USDC) of euro. Bedoeld om koersvolatiliteit te vermijden.A cryptocurrency whose value is pegged to a stable asset, such as the dollar (USDT, USDC) or euro. Designed to avoid price volatility.
StakingStaking

Token

Volatiliteit
De mate van koersschommeling. Crypto staat bekend om hoge volatiliteit — grote winsten én grote verliezen zijn in korte tijd mogelijk.The degree of price fluctuation. Crypto is known for high volatility — large gains and large losses are possible in a short time.

Wallet

Whale
